Leveling Observations

dedbitt_glowing_altar.gif

It’s been a learning experience leveling a death knight again. For one thing I first did it in early beta, before all the abilities were even in, let alone balanced. For another I get to watch and chat with guild members doing the same thing. Read more… »

WotLK Start Information Continued

wotlk_faq02.gif

Here’s the second half of the WotLK information post I did for my guild.

Dalaran

Dalaran is the capital city in Northrend. Like Shattrath City it is open to both the Alliance and the Horde. There are separate Alliance and Horde sections of the city, entering the wrong one will teleport you out. These sections contain separate inns and portals to every major city of that faction and Shattrath City. Read more… »

WotLK Start Information

wotlk_faq01.gif

I posted this information to my guild’s forum originally to help alleviate some of the many questions we all see being asked in the early days of WotLK. With many death knights now approaching or in Northrend I figured this information will come in handy here as well.

Goals Met

icon_gryphon.gifWith a couple of hours to spare I managed to meet my personal death knight goals. I wanted to be level 70 and a grand master in all my professions (save fishing, I’ll do that later… promise…) by the end of the weekend. That puts me at a good point to join my guild mates in Northrend fun. Too bad I have a work trip all this week, hence the need fast paced goals.

Oh well, at least I won’t be too far behind my guild. In terms of the hardcore death knights I’m way behind. The first level 80 death knight dinged on Saturday and my realm’s first death knight dinged Sunday evening. Meh, I hit 80 in beta and saw most of the new content. I’m still planning on enjoying myself as I level up. Too soon we’ll have nothing but raids or PvP to keep us busy and another two years before the next expansion. Enjoy the game as a game again while you can.

Northrend Bound

dedbitt_wyrm.gif

As one may infer from my lack of posting the midnight run for a Collector’s Edition was successful. The Best Buy we visited had few pre-orders and plenty of copies, more than enough for everyone there. The next morning Fry’s had even more copies and almost no one waiting at the door. GameStop didn’t fair quite so well, I hear. Read more… »

World of Warcraft 3: The Search for (Collector’s Editon) Box

sold_out.gif

I didn’t pre-order WotLK. If I’m taking a couple of days off of work I don’t want to spend the first one plotting how I am going to punish the FedEx guy for not making me his first stop. Instead I’m heading out tonight for my collector’s edition. Read more… »

Wrath To Do List

wotlk.gif

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King launches at midnight. Death knights will soon flood into the Plaguelands, then Outland. But before I go through my to do list! I’m so hardcore…

  1. Place other characters in a city. Rob them of their remaining gold.
  2. Make sure bank character is cleaned up and ready to receive Outland crap and Northrend goodies.
  3. Create death knight. Very important, one might even say critical, to my long term plans.
  4. Mail my death knight their stuff. Start with the stuff I don’t need immediately (so it goes to the bottom of the inbox).
  5. Get UI and mods up and running.

I’ve managed to go through my real life to do list, mostly. Cleaned, gathered provisions, faked my death so no one bothers to call, etc.

icon_gnome_dk.gifIt looks like the official level 80 death knight avatars for the WoW forums have been located. Someone from WotLKWiki found them, but DeathKnight.info has the better display of them.

Now you can’t complain the avatar looks nothing like your death knight since you’ve seen it before you created your character ;)

Noth’s Special Brew

noth_cauldron.gif

The death knight starter area is designed to have the player follow a linear quest path which takes them through the various stages of the Scourge’s war against the Scarlet Crusade. You’ll complete quests and phase to the next point in time, then repeat. It is balanced to grat you level 58, all your talent points, and a full set of blue armor and weapon when everything is done. There is no need to grind for XP, you won’t miss it in the area and as soon as you are done there are better XP gains to be had in Outland. However there is one thing worth grinding for: [Noth's Special Brew]. Read more… »

Delaying Outland?

western_plaguelands.gif

I had been planning on going straight to Outland after getting out of the death knight start area and running some errands. The Plaguelands have never been known as a great leveling area and I figured since we’ll be level 58 anyway why not go through the Dark Portal. However I’ve read some good arguments about hanging around the Plaguelands for a couple of levels. They are based on ease (believe it or not) and may actually be part of a faster leveling path.
