With holiday and raid schedules lining up together I’ve been doing more tanking in our guild raids. Enough so that I’ve been dealing more with tank gear than DPS gear. This has lead me to reading more in depth about tanking theorycraft. Read more… »

It appears that melee hit cap for single weapons and special attacks is currently at 8% (use to be 9% against mobs +3 levels, i.e. bosses). It is uncertain whether this was a deliberate change with the expansion or a bug that will eventually get fixed. There is a thread on Elitist Jerks going over this matter and the testing done seems to be pretty consistent. Paladins are having some odd results and Titan’s Grip for warriors uses it’s own caps, but for single weapon users (feral druids, hunters, and of course two-handed death knights) the results all point to an 8% hit cap. Tanking Weapons Forthcoming?
Posted on 2008 under Death Knight, Dedbitt, Tanking | 3 Comments22 Dec
It looks like with patch 3.0.8, currently on the public test realms, we’re getting real tank weapon options. The bad news is this really hurts our position when we make fun of warriors and paladins for being a bunch of shield using wussies. Read more… »

Continuing from gemming and enchanting for DPS here are my gem and enchant suggestions for your tanking gear. Read more… »

Where consumables are usually seen as a raid only thing, gems and enchants for your gear is universal. Whether you raid, do heroics, or just solo these will help your PvE play and, being permanent (at least until that next gear upgrade), don’t have the same weekly cost. Here are my gem and enchant suggestions for your DPS gear. Read more… »
Certainly was a slower week here, but not so much in game. My guild entered Naxxramas 25-man and cleared the Arcahnid and Plague Quarters. A smaller group of us later hit the 10-man version and did a full clear in two days. Between raids it has all been about gearing up, which led me to a lot of info about gems and enchants for a death knight. I’ll go into those later this week.

Raiding is under way for some, others are looking at raiding starting up soon. Among other things that means it is time to start farming up consumables. And lucky us, on top of learning about all new consumables available this expansion we also get to learn about what is best for our new class. So here’s a list to help you out of the top items for both tanking and DPSing death knights in raids. Read more… »
Re: Upcoming Death Knight Changes

Looks like I posted just a tad early. Patch 3.0.8 notes are now available. The notes list less that what we’ve seen, but the real point is testing should begin “soon” and since this isn’t a content patch testing won’t take as long.

Blizzard announced some of the upcoming death knight changes in detail yesterday. These should show up in patch 3.1, which isn’t even out for testing yet so we’ve got a while. You can see the original post here, however MMO Champion has a nicely laid out version. Read more… »

The picture above is the epitome of dumb luck. I picked up [Reins of the White Polar Bear] this weekend without having any clue what I was doing.
As it turns out the mount is an ultra rare reward from some daily quests given by the Hyldsmeet women, the big blue women in Storm Peaks you work with and eventually unlock the Sons of Hodir faction through. Their daily quests give nothing but some gold and [Hyldnir Spoils], which has a 1-2% chance of containing the mount and otherwise just has [Snowball] or some plain food and water. I was doing the quests in the area, noticed the first daily, and just added it to my list. When I opened my bag there was the mount. Like I said, dumb luck… followed by some guild hate.
WoW Insider has a nice write up about getting the mount.
