Stat weights aren't perfect and they can't be the only means you use to pick your gear, DPS or tank. The chest item you listed is nice for tanking in that is has strength (which gives aggro and parry), great stamina, and hit and expertise which are bit for tanks below those caps. If you are at the hit and expertise cap, for example, then those stats are useless to you, so the value goes down. If you are below the defense cap then defense is the only stat you should be looking at, so the weight numbers are less meaningful to you. It is a good comparison system, but there is still some thinking and human based comparison involved, especially for tank gear which has good a defense and offense nature and need.

Oops! I just commented on your previous list asking about tanking weights since you didn't list them. I understand how stat weighting works, I don't understand why it ranks DPS gear as well.

For example it ranks Undiminished Battleplate (2298armor, 100str 150sta 100hit 51expertise) above t7.5 (2298armor 92str 127sta 53defense 45dodge 53parry & 2 sockets) tanking chest. Should I just ignore the fact that DPS gear is ranked above tanking gear?

I know that sometimes you might want a +hit or +expertise trinket to get those cap'd but would I really want to give up that much avoidance for hit / expertise?

The weightings just seem flawed if a dps item can be ranked above a comparable tanking item. Granted I don't fully understand the weights so it's possible I'm completely wrong. Any chance you could maybe elaborate more on this subject?

Thanks,
