Where consumables are usually seen as a raid only thing, gems and enchants for your gear is universal. Whether you raid, do heroics, or just solo these will help your PvE play and, being permanent (at least until that next gear upgrade), don’t have the same weekly cost. Here are my gem and enchant suggestions for your DPS gear.
Gems
There are several gem options for each slot, depending on your stat needs. The first gem listed is considered the best, all things being equal. However, if you are short a particular stat then gemming is a good opportunity to bring up those weaker points.
Red Sockets:

Meta Sockets:
You should also take careful note of a socket bonus before trying to gem for it. Stamina bonuses aren’t helpful to your damage and you probably have enough stamina if you have socketed gear. Likewise hit bonuses aren’t helpful if you are already hit capped. Keep two blue sockets for your meta gem requirement, otherwise when in doubt stack [Bold Scarlet Ruby].
Enchants
This list includes both traditional enchanter enchants as well as other options available through vendors or other crafting. Again the top item is considered the best, but some slots have options if you are low on a certain stat. Some enchants also have an expensive/powerful options and a cheaper/lesser option. If you are enchanting blue quality gear, look at the cheaper option. If you are enchanting raid epics look at the good stuff.
