It is looking like I’ll get the Master of Arms achievement just from necessity. At level 75 I picked up [De-Raged Waraxe], which was a must for leveling. At level 80 I realized that the Kalu’ak had something even better for people revered with them, which I was just from questing: [Whale-Stick Harpoon]. I had been keeping up with my two-hand sword and axe skill ups, but then I needed to skill up polearms. On the bright side it took me less than an hour of farming meat and a couple of instance runs to get up to 400 since death knights start with some polearm skill.
Now it looks I need to start another weapon skill up. While seeing how much [Titansteel Bar] I’ll need I found [Titansteel Destroyer]. First impression: perfect BoE craftable death knight weapon. Strength, check. High stamina for tanking, check. Bonus stat is hit, awesome. Then I saw “mace.” Huh? Death knights don’t use maces! You can’t look awesome and dark with a mace! Who uses maces? Tree hugging druid and holy types, that’s who. Besides, this would mean I need to learn maces and since death knights don’t start skilled in maces I’d have to skill up from 1.
So I’ve picked up a two-hand mace from questing and will grinding skill ups while I wait for my Titansteel cooldown. At least this will make my fishing skill up seem more exciting.
On a related note check out this freaky weapon: [Axe of Bloodstained Ice]. It is the only two-hand weapon in Northrend with defense on it. It is available from a quest chain in Icecrown (everything in Icecrown is available only after a quest chain) for Alliance and Horde, so if you are desperate to make the defense cap this could help. Between catching fish and then trying desperately, but unsuccessfully, to hit them with a mace I think I’ll be too busy for now myself.
