I didn’t pre-order WotLK. If I’m taking a couple of days off of work I don’t want to spend the first one plotting how I am going to punish the FedEx guy for not making me his first stop. Instead I’m heading out tonight for my collector’s edition.

Plan A

Dinner with a friend then we stack out a place in line at a local Best Buy for the midnight release. GameStop seems to only have enough CEs to meet their pre-orders, but we found a Best Buy with only half their CEs called for. With any luck the line will be shorter than their total count. iPods and tauren repellent should make the evening passable.

Plan B

Should Best Buy’s stock disappoint we’ll try hitting some of the 24 hour Wal*Marts in the area. With any luck we can get someone to check in the back and pull out a couple of copies.

Plan C

If all else fails we’re meeting some local guildies for breakfast Thursday morning. We’re meeting at Fry’s Electronics, which doesn’t open until 8:00AM but will have plenty of WotLK stock and almost no line. This is how I got my CE last expansion and outside of our group there were maybe eight other people there when the doors opened.

So I expected to be able to get a copy of the CE, the only question is whether I get to install and play tonight or tomorrow morning.

Good luck to all of us, whether standing in line in the cold for a midnight release, trying to track the delivery man’s current exact location, or just waiting for the day to end so you can get home and play.
