The death knight starter area is designed to have the player follow a linear quest path which takes them through the various stages of the Scourge’s war against the Scarlet Crusade. You’ll complete quests and phase to the next point in time, then repeat. It is balanced to grat you level 58, all your talent points, and a full set of blue armor and weapon when everything is done. There is no need to grind for XP, you won’t miss it in the area and as soon as you are done there are better XP gains to be had in Outland. However there is one thing worth grinding for: [Noth's Special Brew].
Noth’s Special Brew is a [Super Healing Potion] combined with an energy drink. A heal pot that also gives you an instant Death Coil attack. The grind for them is fairly easy, you’ll get most of what you need just doing the other quests, but you need to be mindful that you don’t phase out of the area until you’ve collect 20 of the special brew.
After you take over Havenshire you’ll run into Noth who will give you the quest The Plaguebringer’s Request. After you’ve collected the needed items you’ll help Noth create a plague cauldron and you will receive 5 of Noth’s Special Brew. You can return to the cauldron with [Crusader Skull] to get more of the brew, 5 potions for every 20 skulls. So in short after you’ve created the cauldron you need to farm 60 Crusader Skull.
You’ll have several more quests killing crusaders and every one of them will drop a skull (or maybe that’s just me, since I usually have to aim for their knees and leave the head alone). Like I said before, you’ll end up with most of that you need just doing the quests. You may have to grind the last few, if so go for it. The brew is really good stuff and you’re still getting XP anyway. The key is to have all of your brew before you do Scarlet Armies Approach…. Picking up that quest presents you with a portal back to Ebon Hold. Take that portal and you will phase to the next stage, and thus be unable to turn in your skulls. Get your skulls, turn them in, then start the quest and take the portal.
