If your guild is anything like mine then you’ll probably have only a few players switching to death knight mains, but a lot of players looking forward to playing a death knight alt.
Playing as an alt will certainly be fun: starting a hero class at level 55 in a really cool zone you can only access with said alt. Get to play with an all new combat and spell resource system, but not have all the stress of trying to power level to keep up with guild mates starting expansion 15 levels ahead of you. Read more… »

Like the genius that I am I did a complete revamp of my WoW user interface (UI) and came up with something complicated which I loved. The genius part was I did this 6 weeks before patch 3.0.2. You know, biggest content patch in WoW history, guaranteed to break addons everywhere.
It took me almost a week after the patch, but I got my UI back up and running. In fact it even looks better and is a bit slimmer than before (though still more mods than a sane player with WoW patch experience would run). My hope is that when I install WotLK there isn’t another major mod disturbance. If that is the case then I have a great melee DPS based UI ready to be turned on for my death knight. Read more… »

I was hoping two handed weapon itemization from Northrend quests would change as beta testing progressed, but going by the info on Wowhead’s WotLK section it looks like the bigger weapons were itemized as intended when I went through the quests in beta. The itemization issue I ran into was two handed axes grossly out performed two handed swords for death knights. I prefer swords to axes (for esthetics) and I’ll be using swords through Outland. However the best quest reward weapons in Northrend are all axes, which puts a crimp in my esthetics. More importantly it means we all need to be prepared to change weapon types and that means being skilled up before Northrend. Read more… »

There’s a great “so you wanna be a tank” article I read on WoW Insider. It is from their Tank Talk column and is titled Do you feel lucky, punk? The article goes over the ten questions anyone who is looking at tanking for the first time needs to ask themselves before they get started. A couple of the questions death knights are immune to, a credit toward Blizzard’s attempts to make tanks more viable in general PvE, but most of them are something anyone looking at rolling a death knight but who has never tanked before should ask themselves. You can spec frost and call yourself a frost mage in plate all you want, but eventually someone is going to ask you to tank and probably to do so regularly. Read more… »

WoW Insider is reporting that the zombie plague will soon come to an end. Blizzard is ending the actual plague later today. The special bosses and necropoles will remain for now, but their removal in a matter of days from now as well according to Blizzard. This is all part of the planned story line leading up to WotLK, and more events will continue to happen.
I’ll miss the zombies, but I had my fill of zombie fun as well. I am liking the rapid pace of this event (for an MMO) and that none of its parts will get old. I also imagine things will continue to go bad before they get better, so just imagine what we’ll be facing next week.

The madness continued over the weekend, though the capital cities never became fully shut down like I expected. Oh they came close, with the infection time lowered to 1 minute, high level zombies spawning and entering capital cities, and most of the Argent Healers removed from the cities. Luckily the world attacks by floating necropolises have helped distract much of the player base away from the cities as well. Read more… »

The plague roaches are spreading!
Visit Wowhead and look up anything you like. Then take a look at the top of the page’s frame.
In related news the infection time has been dropped from 10 minutes to 5 minutes.

As reported by WoW Insider the plague is spreading. There are now infected crates in the capital cities and Plague Roaches, which infect you when you kill them.
Might not be a bad idea to get your bank alts to do list out of the way now and keep them offline over the weekend. Things are going to get fun or not, depending on your point of view, with the weekend population.

I’ve come up with two guides: one for zombies and one for the party poopers non-zombies. What I’ve done is consolidate the information we know about how the infection and zombies work. As you’ll see the event is designed to be limited in scope and range. Zombies can’t travel far and are fairly easy to put down. Infection is even easier to stop if you catch it early. Still it is a lot of fun tearing up a questing town, or stopping someone from doing such, and I think we all know what something even worst will be upon us soon. Read more… »
